very early days, began to make a 17pdr gun for the Sherman as a test run for the gun making process, when I have the gun finished I will move on to the turret.
I would think that the M-10 wolverine would fit it better, seeing as its top gun is a high velocity 76mm, which is more similar to the 17 pounder than the 90mm is.
The 76mm is not really like the 17pdr, people get confused due to the similar caliber but that was the only thing similar about those two guns, it is closest in performance to the German L70, I feel the slugger represents a closer match to how the firefly performed with hugely long shells that were quite slow to load in a cramped turret compared to the 76mm, high pen and reasonable damage.
PS in penetration terms the 17pdr had an equivalent penetration to the 90mm, you don't see this in game as they are using ammo for the 17pdr which was not used in combat.
The power isn't made by the caliber, but by the shell, remember. Only the APDS (Armor Piercing Discardingg Sabot) on the 17 pounder can penetrate a Königstiger... and with a bit some difficult, 150mm at xx° = more than or 180mm I think. boris wolfley wasn't false, the 17 pounder was used in the Wolverine by the British, and named "Achilles".
(by the way, someone is already remodeling a 17 pounder for the M10 Wolverine, it could be compatible with Serpenta's remodel)
could we get an version for the slugger AND the wolverine? I'm currently using the new slugger model you guys just posted, and it would kinda suck to have to switch it over completely because its awesome. :l
well it looks a lot different than it does in the pic, I kind of went to town with this one, I am of the mind that this model needs to be better than anything the devs come out with in the brit tree or its not worth the effort at all.
I ended up sculpting a muzzle break by hand to get it to look right.
can't give a timescale for this, I have decided to focus on one project at a time which is hard for me, as i constantly get ideas for other things while I am working on something else and I have ended up with 7 or 8 unfinished works.
I am going to get the T28 prot finished first then the firefly
oh yea i wanna ask is this the Sherman VC Firefly of IC Firefly ? It is the same turret, just the addition of a bits box which was added to both IC and VC variants, the 50 cal is wrong in any case, I have many photos of the bits box in many different positions, some times on top of the turret radio bustle sometimes on the front of the hull.
Mine currently has it with the box as seen in your pic, its more of the classic firefly, but yes I could do a version of the turret with just the radio bustle.
